Custom Made with Love… September 24, 2012

One of the great things about doing this as a business is that I get to combine my love of making gifts for others and still keep my wallet (and my dear husband ;)) happy.

Recently I had the opportunity to create my first custom piece for an acquaintance.  It was difficult at first to know where to start… I had never seen her outside of work and didn’t really know her style!  In the end the endeavor was well worth it, as the end result was nothing either of us expected, but that we both loved. 

My only instruction was that it was to be a “silver anklet with dangles.” You be the judge on how I did.

And yes, if you are wondering that is my foot!

Balance August 15, 2012

As you may or may not know.  What is now my craft studio, was a few months ago a very large second floor storage space from when we moved into our home!  We have not had a great need to use that space, but when I decided to take my business seriously and try and make a go of it, part of it was taking back that upstairs space!!!  In the past few weeks, it has become apparent that there needs to be a little more feng shui and a lot less clutter in order to really be productive!  That being said, we finally accomplished what the quote above illustrates, which coincidently is from on of my favorite movies!

So, as the days go on and we are working on a few sales, logo design and our website.  It’s my decision to alter my goals a little bit.

1) Craft show this winter/spring for trial.

2) Get business cards printed.

3) Put 30 items in the Etsy shop.

4) 50 likes on Facebook! (free jewelry to number 50!)

5) Make 15 sales this quarter!

A few weeks ago we had a riddle and I had a terrible time taking a picture of the blue lagoon bracelet!  I have a happy update that I have a MUCH better pic to share tonight!

HOt in the Summer June 25, 2012

So as you know, last week our house was hit with a heatwave, and my “studio” right now, is in a 2nd floor room in our Cape style home.  So without AC, jewelry making was the last thing on my mind.  Actually anything other than lying very still and trying not to sweat was not on my mind!

Actually there was another factor too.  I’ve mentioned in previous posts about the Two Worlds Pieces that they were inspired by hosting exchange students.  And this week we were getting ready to say good bye to a very special FES that we know.  (FES = Foreign Exchange Student).

This week however, I do have a new piece to show case.  We will be adding listings for the bracelets on Etsy. We will be continuing our quest for a craft show in the fall and we will be up in the studio, preparing for that show.  So it’s gonna be a big week for KayTee Krafts.

I want to share this piece here even though it is not for sale.  It was given to someone very awesome. I hope you will enjoy this turquoise beaded necklace and I hope she too will enjoy this piece tremendously.  It’s a turquoise pendant on an 18 inch chain.  

 

Better Late Than Never… June 13, 2012

I always thought I took good pictures… Until I started this venture and realized that I am FAR from a great photographer.  Anyways, I have been having some major technical difficulties, hence the two day wait when just one was promised…

Anyways, I think these two are worth waiting for… The answer to the riddle was actually bracelets!!!

I made two.  The first one, I would like to call Autumn Breeze… It’s very simple, just purple and green.  I used this great stretchy string to make it. It makes me think of wood nymphs and the forest.  

  

The second one I am calling the Blue Lagoon.  It makes me think of something a mermaid would wear, it’s translucent and sparkly and has an awesome “seaweed” inspired hook and eye clasp.

I’m hoping to get better pics before these go on our Etsy store, but in the meantime, if anyone is interested in learning more, please e-mail me at KayTeeKrafts@yahoo.com.  And that’s the end of my infomercial for tonight.
